About the author: If we've not met before, a warm Idaho "howdy" and welcome. My name is Carrie Stuart Parks and I have the wonderful career of being both a fine artist as well as a forensic artist. If you're wondering what a forensic artist does, you're not alone. I do art for law enforcement and legal proceeding--art such as composite sketches, unknown remains, courtroom drawings, trial exhibits, and much more. These days I mostly teach forensic art across the US and Canada. My fascination with forensic art (as well as my love of dogs,) finds their way into my novels. Here's a little bit about my latest, Fragments of Fear:
Stolen art. A New Mexico archaeological dig. An abandoned dog. And a secret that’s worth killing for. And the clock is ticking. Praise for Fragments of Fear: “A rollercoaster ride with a lovable protagonist and a suspenseful, twisty plot.” —Colleen Coble “I love Carrie Stuart Park's skill in writing characters with hysterical humor, unwitting courage, and page-turning mystery. I hope my readers won't abandon me completely when they learn about her!” —Terri Blackstock, USA TODAY bestselling author of the If I Run series.
The Art of Story
I'd been a professional artist for more years than I can think when I first penned a novel. Before that I'd written and illustrated five books for North Light Publishing--books about drawing and watercolor portraits. I figured a novel couldn't be all that hard. Really. I'd been able to address how to sharpen a pencil, load a watercolor brush, and select the perfect quinacridone color. Add a few characters and **poof** a novel.
I probably wouldn't have even thought of writing fiction if it hadn't been for my friend and mentor, Frank Peretti. He felt I had potential storytelling ability beyond my how-to books. Over a period of eight years he encouraged, shaped, laughed, and taught me how to write mystery-suspense. His faith in me was validated when my first novel, A Cry From the Dust, went on to sell at auction, finaled in the Christy Awards, and won the Carol Award. To date, all of my novels have won or finaled in numerous published novel competitions.
With my mentor, Frank Peretti.
Here’s the Stop #3, Carrie's Skinny (arguably the only part of her that's skinny...): If you’re interested, you can order Fragments of Fear on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, CBD or at your local bookstore!
But wait! Before you go, I’m offering an original work of art to one lucky winner. All you have to do is sign up to get my e-newsletter (below) or note that you’re already a subscriber in the comments section (or both!) Additional points to those who follow me as an author on Goodreads or Facebook!
