Fragments of Fear

Picture

“A rollercoaster ride with a lovable protagonist and a suspenseful, twisty plot.” —Colleen Coble
Stolen art. A New Mexico archaeological dig. An abandoned dog. And a secret that’s worth killing for.
Evelyn McTavish’s world came crashing down with the suicide of her fiancé. As she struggles to put her life back together and make a living from her art, she receives a call that her dog is about to be destroyed at the pound. Except she doesn’t own a dog. The shelter is adamant that the microchip embedded in the canine with her name and address makes it hers.
Evelyn recognizes the dog as one owned by archaeologist John Coyote because she was commissioned to draw the two of them. The simple solution is to return the dog to his owner—but she arrives only to discover John’s murdered body.
As Evelyn herself becomes a target, she crosses paths with undercover FBI agent Sawyer Price. The more he gets to know her, the more personally invested he becomes in keeping her safe. Together, they’re desperate to find the links between so many disparate pieces.
And the clock is ticking.

What People Are Saying

“Over the years, Carrie has mastered forensic art, fine art, and her own brand of offbeat humor. As a novelist she combines these skills with another: puzzle writing––scattering puzzle pieces all over her fictional universe and then dropping them into place in twists, surprises, revelations, and side-pocket whimsy until the big picture emerges, never too soon, always on the brink of disaster.” —Frank Peretti
'. . . appealing inspirational thriller. . . will appeal to fans of Dani Pettrey.' -Publishers Weekly
“Stolen art. A New Mexico archaeological dig. An abandoned dog. And a secret that’s worth killing for.” This summer, get ready for a story that will keep you reading until the wee hours of the morning, frantically flipping pages as the danger escalates and a tangled web of deception begins to unravel. “Fragments of Fear” is the newest Thomas Nelson release by Carrie Stuart Parks, and is definitely a thrill ride from start to finish.

As the second book I’ve read by Carrie Stuart Parks, “Fragments of Fear” is an incredibly fast-paced story that weaves romantic suspense with thought-provoking themes about faith, humility, and trust. All this is tied together with top-notch writing that brings the story to life with (sometimes terrifying) reality. When our heroine jumps at a noise around the corner, you will too!

I really appreciated how “Fragments of Fear” was more than just danger, action, and drama – there was emotion and inner growth, as well. I really came to care about the characters, including the spunky, innocent little dog that is at the center of a diabolical chain of events. It is important to note that this is not a book to jump into if you are not already comfortable with the Romantic Suspense genre. Why? Frightening situations abound, multiple people are murdered, and unknown villains constantly seem to be breathing down the neck of the protagonist in very realistically-scary scenes. BUT, if you do enjoy the genre and are looking for something that is more than just scary, but has some substance to it as well, I highly recommend “Fragments of Fear”.-Prairie Skys Book Reviews
